Let’s face it, classic Mopar compressors aren’t the most attractive things in the world. Then to make matters worse, they mount it front and center covering most of your chromed out custom powerplant. After many years of working on European cars, it was noted that most manufacturers mount the A/C compressor in a low mount position. This transfers weight lower, provides better cooling airflow and keeps the ugliness out of your face. Finally a solution is here from Classic Auto Restoration Services. This CAD designed CNC cut bracket set is made of durable 1/4 steel with two stabilizer struts, eliminating any movement or vibration. The bracket is made to mount to the fuel pump mounting pad on the lower right side of the engine block. Brackets are media blasted, welded, then painted with enamel for durable corrosion prevention. A chromed version will be available soon. Other designs have fallen short, only allowing one belt or a bracket that sticks way out building in harmonics which cause vibration, belt slipping and squealing. Classic Auto Restoration Services design allows a double belt drive and extremely stable installation eliminating all the classic problems. The compressor bracket is hard mounted so the belt tension adjustment is accomplished at the alternator and power steering locations. The bracket installation only allows for front to back movement of the compressor to align pulley grooves. This kit requires that the car uses an electric fuel pump which has advantages all its own: Better volume and flow, reduces weight on the front of the vehicle and keeps fuel lines from becoming heat soaked from crossing over hot engine and headers. It is designed for the “shorty” Sanden compressor. The kit comes with the A/C mounting bracket, two stabilizer struts and mounting hardware for the bracket to engine block and the pivot bolt to mount the compressor to the bracket (Both are grade 8).
